Ship Security Plan (SSP)

Key features in Ship Security Plan (SSP) :-

Company Security Officer (CSO) :-
Each company owner must appoint an individual(s) to take on the role of Company Security Officer.

Ship Security Officer (SSO) :-
Each company owner must appoint an individual(s) to take on the role of Ship Security Officer.

Ship Security Assessment (SSA) :-
The ship security assessment is an essential and integral part of the process of developing and updating the ship security plan.

The ship security assessment should include an on scene security survey which should address as a minimum the following elements :-

-	Identification of existing security measures, procedures, operations;
-	Identification and evaluation of key ship board operations that need protection;
-	Identification of possible threats to the key ship board operations and the likelihood of their occurrence, in order to establish and prioritize security measures
-	Identification of weaknesses, including human factors in the infrastructure, policies and procedures

Develop a Ship Security Plan (SSP) :-
A security plan shall be developed based on the ship security assessment that identifies equipment , measures , and procedures that are to be employed in maintaining security on board the ship. The SSP is designed to protect persons on board, cargo, transport units, ship’s stores or ships against the risk of a security incident.

USG Ship Security Plan Approval :-
USG Maritime Services, as RSO, on behalf of Autoridad Marítima de Panamá will evaluate the Ship Security Plan to determine compliance with the ISPS Code. The customer will be notified on whether the plan has been approved/rejected via e-mail by USG.

USG Ship Security Plan (SSP) - Checklist
USG has developed a ship security plan checklist that is designed to
ensure that all required items by ISPS Part/Section Reference are
included in the SSP. (Instructions below)

The checklist is in Excel format, and you will need Microsoft Excel
(which comes as part of Microsoft Office), in order to view and
edit the document.

Instructions on how to use the Checklist :-

The Checklist is the tool by which your plan will be measured.

Please make sure you complete the entire checklist. In the column headed DOC. REFERENCE, enter the page and/or section number of your plan that corresponds to the ISPS Code Part/Section.
